One more week

Whats up America,

As the end of the semester approaches I must take this time to reflect on the progression made by classmates and myself. We all started the school year off with many different backgrounds and levels of experience according to our majors. I can honestly say that we pushed each other to perform at a higher level.

Most if not all the challenges we faced were met and conquered. We overcame camera issues, editing problems, and interview nightmares and handled it like consummate professionals. Truth be told anything that doesn't kill you only makes you stronger is a fact.

As we look ahead with one week to go I feel that with all that I have learned I am ready to parley my skills to a career in broadcast. I would love to work in my hometown of Chicago but the chances of that happening is slim to none. With one more semester to go before I graduate I plan to put as many packages together this summer as possible. This is John Peebles checking up outta here for Peebles Pointz!

Chi-Town Representers

Whats up America,

Post season excitement is happening for two of Chicago's sports teams. The Bulls and Blackhawks are both competing in the post season. After years of not making the playoffs the Blackhawks have taken a three games to two lead over the Calgary Flames.
With an opportunity to close the series out with a win tonight. Although they are young in age they possess big time players who are performing like veterans.

The Bulls are battling the defending world champions the Boston Celtics. The Bulls needed regulation and two overtimes to tie the series at two games a piece. Ben Gorden and ROY (ROOKIE OF THE YEAR), Derrick Rose are leading the young Bulls on a quest for the Larry O'Brien trophy. The series is headed back to Boston for game five.

The buzz around the city of Chicago is electric as fans live and die with each moment of the playoff for the Blackhawks and Bulls. The NBA'S slogan or motto is "where amazing happens", I consider to be true with some of the action that has taken place. For example how amazing was Ben Gorden's three point shot that forced a second overtime? What moments stick out to you the most? Please feel free to hit up the blog?

Do you work well with others?

What up America,
As a college student it is necessary at times to work with a partner on assigned projects. Honestly I am not a big fan of working with a partner because of a bad experience. Now don't get me wrong when necessary I will do so however if given a choice I would say no.

I feel this way because my focus is stronger when I have to rely on myself to get the job done. In most cases I find it difficult to depend on a partner when my grade is at hand. As I am learning it takes time and a partner who is just as passionate about the work as me to restore my faith.

Currently I am working with a partner and we are both driven making our package a success. I want to hear from you blogger's about your experiences working with a partner for school related projects. So be my guest and post a blog.

Feel My Pain

whats up America,

well the stage is set and the final two teams are ready to battle for the National Championship tonight. One thing is for certain fans for both schools will pack Ford Field to support their teams.

I personally sometimes wish I would have attended a big name school with an athletic program that competes in in the NCAA tournament. I attend Columbia College Chicago and our school does not compete in Division One athletics.

Instead I see Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan in the crowds rooting for the schools they once wore the jersey of. Just the thought of of my school ballin in the March Madness tourney is cool. If you feel the same way I do post a message or two.

Final Four results

alright fellow bracket holders four teams have their tickets punched for Detroit. Honestly how many of you can say you got it right out the gate?

Considering the fact that Nova' and Michigan State screwed up my bracket I am curious to know how the rest of your brackets are looking as the final four stage is set.

Let's get this topic going with some feedback

Whats up America,

Since change is the theme of our 44th President Barack Obama I think it's only fitting change be the focus of my new blog subject. Change will be coming soon for senior high school ball players who plan to play on the collegiate level. No more big man on campus when most of these players land on the campus of the school they choose. Reality will hit like an Ali jab.

What advice would you give to future student athletes as they make the transition from high school to college life.

Midterm package update

2/22/09,

Since changing the topic of my story I have reached out to potential contacts and I plan to interview two high school ball players, one current or former college ball player and a high school and college coach. My focus is to find out what are high school hoopsters feelings about making the jump to the collegiate level. While incorporating insight from the experts such as coaches and players who have experienced playing on both levels. The package is due on March 2nd which means I have a week to interview my contacts and edit my package for viewing. Sounds like a tough challenge but I embrace the pressure like shooting two free throws with no time left on the clock and my team is down by 1. Check back with me next week to find out if I deliver.
